Default 68 headlight door removal

Trying to remove headlight doors for new paint-looked at AIM and chassis manual-kinda confusing-do the pivots with bushings(with allen bolts) that door hinges on have to be removed? Got to point where it said remove 3 cap screws. Can't figure out after that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

FWIW: do you have to take them out? They were installed in the body when the car was painted at St. Louis. After paint, you will need to fret over possible nicks and scratches putting them back in.

If you loosen the collars (allen head screws), that should give you enough left-right movement to wiggle the doors out. Bearings will come with them after you remove the three bolts in each.

don't do it, leave them in the up position, remove the bulbs and bulb cups along with the retainer springs and then paint with buckets still installed on the car!
