My new carpet set isn't padded with jute. (Except for a little under the pedals) What are the benifits of having the jute there? Will it extend the life of the carpet?
And I got the foil bubble wrap stuff from Home Depot for insulation. Gonna cut it myself. But, it doesn't have any type of padding... just plastic bubbles.
Should I get the water heater insulation instead? It has the padding and foil instead of the bubble wrap and foil.
Or, option 3, buy the jute from Home Depot's carpet dept., cut it myself, and lay it over the bubble wrap insulation.
I did a '72 and '81 with the bubble foil. There was not much room to add anything else and have the carpet fit like it should. I also put it in the rear over the fenders and on the floor. I used it to keep the heat and noise down. The '72 was very hot. The foil helped, in my opinion.
I understand you can have a cut of put on the heater so the hot water does not pass inside the car in the summer. I never did that. Didn't keep the car long enough.
