I know theres 3 types of muncie trannys.M20 M21 and the lovely M22.Is there a Close ratio M20,M21 and whats the difference between them?
I know i have a closeratio M20..
If you have an M20, you have wide ratio. M21 and M22 are close ratio. The M20 and M21 are basically the same except for the ratio. The M22 is heavy duty.
wowbagger,
NOT to confuse the situation but there is also the Borg Warner (now known as Richmond) Super T-10 (sometimes "listed" as a Muncie). The Early Muncies were also coarse spline and small output shaft while the later Muncie was a fine spline with a large (turbo 400) style output shaft. ...redvetracr
Then i must chech my VIN# again.Because it handles like a close ratio..Pretty long 1st and then really close between 2nd and 3rd...
I drive a 73 BB..Whats the standad tranny in that year?
I think wide ratio was standard....not positive though. You should have the Muncie. I believe the 74 was the first year for Super T-10's. There was a time where they were putting both transmissions in Vette in the same year. The Borg Warner trans is pretty much a copy of the Muncie. It's entirely possible that someone could have swapped your transmission, so the VIN might not be true.
