Choke Creep
When I start my 1980, I pump the gas pedal 3 or 4 times, turn the key and it fires up. The choke kicks in pretty quick and holds the engine at about 1,500 rpm. If I do not tap the gas to release the choke after 15 to 30 seconds the rpm's slowly start to climb. I have let it climb to nearly 2,000 rpm after a minute or so but then tap the gas to cut out the choke.
Any way to get the choke to kick itself out? Does this choke creep happen to others?
This is a car that is garage kept in sunny California so it is not really cold to begin with.

That is how it works. If you drive off then it will release, but if you leave it idle then you have to "kick" the throttle to release the choke. Carburetors are like that... :rolleyes:
