ah crap... [BB starter]
i just broke my starter motor while attempting to reinstall.
when torquing the forward mounting screw, the housing flange for the bolt head clamping face snapped off!
i doubt i can repair it, which means replacement.
-i've seen some guys what use a new 'mini-starter' that is like 1/2 the weight. do they make for BB?
-what about availability of an original or rebuilt starter?
-can i replace just the starter nose end?

This is pretty common...have the part brazed back on(I've had this done), or get a new nose piece. I'm sure someone may have a core they can give you.

I know there are mini starters that fit. Supposedly there's even one from GM.....
If you want to fix yours, I think I have an old starter sitting around that I'd
send to you for shipping cost...
It's a heavy piece though. Don't know if it's worth shipping :cheers:

I used a mini starter on my BB. Lite and fairly cheap. I'll try to find the site that I goet it from.
