Has anyone ever had the headlights "hiccup" when the engine shuts off? Other lift functions are correct, but when I turn off the engine with doors down, they pop up slightly, then drop back to their normal closed position. This all takes less than a couple of seconds. I haven't checked the vacuum check valve yet, but that may be the culprit. Any thoughts? Thanks, everybody!
Hi um,
Your problem could well be the check valve.
When the lights wink or nod it's often because there's a small leak in the control, (small hose), side of the vacuum system.
After checking the valve I'd look at at the hose connections at the headlight relays, and then the function of the relays, the headlight switch, and the over-ride switch.
If the hoses are original or quite old often cutting about 3/8" off the ends gives you a fresh seal.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
Thanks, Alan, for the quick reply. I'm sure it's an easy fix, I've been through two other of thes C3s before now, I just hadn't had the "hiccups" with them (unless it was a five beer job). I'll keep looking, and remember: "a wink is as good as a nod to a blind horse" Best regards........
