I've ignored the use of those fandangled clay bars for two reasons - didn't think it would do much, and I've got excellent white paint. I decided to go for it and bought the Mother's kit. I washed the car twice before using it, then wet the surface and ran the bar over it. Holy crap! It was pulling stuff off that paint I couldn't even see! Now it's 'really' white!! And here I thought it was just s'more voodoo.... ;)
Clay bar will make old paint look new...and make new paint look newer...
Love the stuff, use it on drivers and show cars alike...easy, cheap, and relatively quick...follow up with a quality wax or polish and you're set!

Pro detailers have been using clay bars for ever :yesnod:
Recently I spray painted a patio table and chairs outdoors and even tho my new truck was 50 feet away...yep black enamel over spray drifted that far and was all over the previously flawless red paint  ...clayed it and it's good as new
I too was skeptical...used it...and now love it. My paint was good and shiney but was not smooth to the touch. Now its sooooooooo smooth.....just like my wifes.....er...never mind.
I just repaint my 81 and I stayed to far away when doing the hood and so it didn't gloss good at all.Do you think the clay bar would bring the hood paint to a glossy look?
I used it on my 79. Definitely made it smoother. It was weird because the bar would almost stick in some spots, and then it would slide after cleaning the gunk off the paint. Love it.

I don't think the bar will make the paint glossy.....the bar removes surface blemishes. Like overspary...residue from water spots and so on..
