I'm finally actually starting to reassemble the engine/compartment and need to know where the large ground wire (the one that comes from the driver side fender well with the large red wire that connects to the red stud on the back of the alternator)goes. Mine was tied to another large ground wire and bolted to the alternator support bracket adjustment bolt. I'm sure this is not correct and was wondering if anyone may have a picture or describe where these two ground should go. Thanks guys.
Re: Alternator Ground, where does it go? (Ybnormal)
AS I recall, there is only one ground wire to the alternator directly on my '72, and it went to the wiring harness plug on firewall, about a 10 ga wire....it MAY also have been spliced within the harness going forward to the headlights as additional grounding for them, tied off the radiator support....
now there is another black ground stupidly put either on a bellhousing bolt or the starter motor of all things, using a 3/8 bolts anyway, that grounds the WSW motor and the heater blower motor...it's sorta thin and need to be 10 ga also...I moved my attachment point to the intake manifold to shorten the wire and make it more obvious....
