i saw a car with a vinyl wrap that looked like chrome, and other finishes. i wonder if that could be applied to fiberglass side pipe covers. i know it would adhere just wonder around the fins etc. and durability. every option I've explored has been as much as the factory covers. any ideas?

Yoy have to worry about the heat and just would be a nightmare to get the thick vinyl inside the grooves/fins of the OEM style covers.

I'd talk to someone like Paul's Chrome. IIRC they "chrome" plastic stuff, but I don't know how the sidepipe covers would hold up, given the heat. Chrome mylar may or may not work either, but thought I'd mention it just in case.
pauls has done them they claim it holds up. however at over a thousand bucks its insane in my opinion, id rather get a new set from ecklers.just thought it may be an option. i will check a sign company i guess thanks .
My brother runs a production shop that installs these wraps on cars, walls etc. I asked him about the heat issue. He was unsure of any documented heat limitations. I asked what about excessive underhood temps and exhaust temps. He mentioned that Nascar uses this product on all the cars but more interesting is that when he installs the product, he uses a propane torch applied directly to the product to remove wrinkles. (short periods of time obviously)
I would try to go to a shop that installs this product and ask if they would be willing to give you a little scrap to apply as a test. They are going to throw it out anyway...
