Can I bolt in 74 seats in my late 69 Vert?
Greetings to all. Could anyone tell me if I can bolt in a set of 1974 seats in my late 1969 convertible without modifications? My original vinyl seats are in good shape but there is a constant sand like substance coming out of the seats. No matter how much I vacuum the seats, the sand still keeps coming out them. I will only purchase the 1974 seats if they will bolt right in without drilling holes or welding. My car is a Top Flight car so I cannot do any mods to it. Thank you in advance. Merry Christmas to all! Otto

The tracks may bolt in but the seats are very different. That would obviously be a mod.

Those must be original seat covers on your '69 seats. The sand like material coming out of them is most likely the foam that is inside the comfortweave pleats on the seats. The comfortweave has tiny holes that allowed air to circulate through the foam in the pleats. When the foam breaks down from age the dust comes out the tiny ventilation holes. This is very common in original 43 year old comfortweave seat covers. Unfortunatley there is no way to fix this other than putting new seat covers on the seats.

The "sand" is the deteriorated foam rubber from the channels in the seat covers. But, it can be repaired, if the seat covers are in good condition, otherwise.
If interested in looking over a paper I put together on how to refurbish those covers, send me a PM with that request. Also include your e-mail address, so that I can attach an MS Word file with the info. Here is a photo of my interior with the original (an undyed) seat covers that were refurbished as my paper describes.

New seat covers and seat foam and your seats will look like they did when they came from the factory!
Of course, if you don't care if you don't have '69 seats in your '69 Corvette, then it doesn't matter what you do.

Installing 74 seats in a 69 Vert
Thank you to Paul74, Red Vert 02, Gcumano74, PeteZ06 for your replies to my inquiry.
What I would like to do is take out my original 1969 vinyl seats that are in good condition and store them away and replace with a beautiful set of completely rebuilt/restored leather 1974 seats that are being offered to me at a good price. I have no intentions of showing the car or having it judged. I would like to know if the 74 seats will bolt in without mods?
(74 seats will come with 74 seat rails). Will I have to modify or drill new holes in the 74 seat rails to match the mounting holes in my 69 if the mounting hole location are different? Or perhaps I will be able to use the original 69 seat rails mounted to the new 74 seats? Anybody know the answer to these questions please? Thanks and Merry Christmas to All!

69 and 74 seat rails may be the same, but no big deal. Put your 69 rails on the 74 seats.

My 73 seat rails did not match up with the holes in the floor of my 70.
The triangular foot on the back bracket was reversed on the different rails, thus no fit.

69 and 74 Seat tracks are not interchangeable due to the mounting locations. 69 and 74 seats are relatively speaking interchangeable as the mounting holes on the seat tracks for the seat bottoms are the same.

My rebuilt Wilcox 74 leather seats in my 69 fit GREAT! Thanks!
Thank you all that replied to my inquiry about replacing my original vinyl 69 seats with a great set of new rebuilt set of Wilcox leather 74 seats. Bottom line is they fit and look great! I just had to reuse my 69 seat rails with the 74 seats as Mike said. I am happy!! Thanks Again! Merry Christmas to all! Otto

Seat tracks changed around 71 model year, later ones can be made to work by removing and reversing rear mounting tabs or 69's brackets can be swapped onto the 74 seats if they are avalible.
