Sorry Guys its not a Corvette but a 71 Chevelle.

Around 3600 lbs, 496 BBC, in the neighborhood of 675 FHP, 6 speed Magnum, 4.56 gears (see the combo in my signature). In town driving will be 10 to 11 mpg, and have gotten as good as 14 on the interstate.

Wow! That is pretty good for that many cubes and horses. You must have it dialed in.

What does it run in the 1/4?

68 427/390, turbo 400 with a 3:08 rear end. I've done as well as 18 mpg on a prolonged highway trip if I loaf along at 60-65 mph. 8-10 around town. If I'm jumping on it it gets nothing

OMG - like the kids say == 73-454 with 3:55 gears, T400 and running an Edelbrock 750 cfm carb, I would guess about 8 in town and 12 on the highway. But mpg is not really important as we don't build these for mileage.

I build mine for mileage and performance. I'm running low 13s at over 100 MPH and still getting over 20 MPG. But, I also drive my car every day that I can. If I was only getting 10 MPG I wouldn't be able to drive it much.

John,

I have not had this combo to the track yet. Even though the power is there, I will be hard pressed to get it to hook properly. Running a stick with alot of power, I will never get full potential out of this motor. With some new DOT drag slicks, I would love to be able to crack 10's.

24mpg on the highway @ 80mph and 15 in the city with my 427ci 600HP small block, properly tuned carb and OD gear does the trick. I might be getting even better mileage since it started running good with the carb leaned out much more than before.

I was going to a highway mileage check after leaning it out but something came up just as I was about to go on the highway, I could be getting a couple more mpg now.

Without a wideband O2 sensor you will never achieve the best gas mileage

You really haven't lived until you have to pedal your car to 3/4 track on street tires, quite a show I was told by someone watching

Wayne,

Had that issue with my last combo.

Last time I was at the strip (several years ago) I had my old 454 based motor running a Wednesday night drags with all the imports and no track prep. Pulled an awsome 2.7 60ft, pedaled it 3 times and still managed a 13 flat.

Anybody out there with an LS conv C3 that has figured out their MPG. If I can get 25MPG with a Q-Jet an LS may get close to 30.

I took my stock 75 L82 down to see my daughters last month. From San Jose to Orange County, its about a 750 mile round trip. I was averaging 16.25 mpg. Yes I did keep receipts and track of it along the way.

Its better than I thought I would get. Around town its not so good, and I dont bother to check it.

79 L-82 4 spd, headers, no cats, true dual exhaust, slightly bigger cam, 3.70 gears. Max highway mpg was 15.8 on the way to Carlisle this past August. I'm usually in the 14 mpg range.

I'm celebrating the mileage of my Corvette... 10 on a good day. MY a-body (70 Skylark, 455, 4 spd, 3.73 gears) got 5 on a really good day.

74 coupe, L-82, Edelbrock intake, Holley carb, 4 speed, 32 psi tires, 3.70 gears. All I know is that I get about 100 miles per full tank. It equates to about 8 mpg I think. That is mostly around town. Never did a highway trip to determine pure highway mpg. Love driving her though!
