I'm wondering what kind of MPG number others are getting out there. I've always tried to keep my car fairly economical while at the same time running decent at the track. Here are my numbers.
ZZ3, 200R4, 3.08, Q-Jet, AC off, 70MPH. 25MPG all highway
About 13.5 MPG average in the city.
After that I changed gears to 3.73 and installed the GM Hot Cam Kit and now I get 20 MPG with AC on and 21 MPG with it off highway. Still get about the same in the city.
Runs low 13s at about 105.

I'm guessing 12 around town with my 370 HP LT-1 engine. I have a bit of fun with it, though.
Didn't do much interstate driving...not enough to gauge mileage.
New cam will have so much overlap that I'll be able to condense my exhaust directly into the gas tank to recover some fuel. I'll probably get 5 MPG then!
Honest truth, I wasn't deciding between this and a Prius when I made my decision. Crappy mileage sort of comes with the territory.
Did my first TPI install on my stock engine '72 vert here in '95....long about Feb '97 I drove it here from Wash DC, 350, muncie, 336 rear and got 24 mpg......
got a roller cam engine with tons of history and mishaps and a 200 4r overdrive, same 336 rear I figger about the same highway...
and 15 around town....but MY around town is VERY short trips, not even 2 miles one way.....retarrrded so nowhere to go.....
'79 383 roller cam 224 deg intake duration 700-R4 trans 3.55 gears gets me about 20 miles per US gallon on the highway if I can keep it under about 65.
Me and my 2 cents worth....78 coupe...stock 350/auto..no cat conv but running turbo muffs....15mpg highway.....cannot count parades and cruise-ins...........if so it would probably drop to 10mpg or worse.....
Am wondering if I should up the tire pressure to 35psi?????
Lousy. 13 to 16 MPG. Small block convertible, 4 speed, 3.36 gears. Would love to put an overdrive in it. Not in the budget, yet. So I'm buying lottery tickets.
Getting about 13mpg with a stock motor with headers and 2.87s out back. I know something isn't right. Sent my carb out to Lars. I'm sure I'll see some improvement in mpg after the rebuild.
Stock motor on a L-48 with a 3.08 and Th350, 14 MPG before electric fans and carb rebuild. 22 MPG combined highway and town after.
Likely to be worse after new bigger cam and intake, but with bigger smiles. Fair trade.
