It would be great to see someone who does the mpg calculation in stages ie always using same engine taking the vette on the same run with same weather conditions etc then: 1) installs a 5 or 6 sp and computes mpg, 2) adds fi system computes mpg. Then we could see what really adds to an increase in mpg. i do realize that for some the benefits of say a FAST system outway their issues with running a carb but at least we'd have an idea of what each brings to the table as it relates to mpg claims.
I'd like to see someone chime in with a LS conversion. Don't think any of them have said anything yet.

See what they get in 4th or 1:1, same weather etc. I doubt that much better than a well tuned carb. For a daily driver EFI or any kind of fuel injection is better especially up here in our igloos where the temps can go from -40 to +40 Celcius or real cold to real hot if your an American
Most of us live in a certain are where the conditions are about the same when we drive are Vettes in the summer and all the computer controlled stuff isn't really needed IMHO, Even if swapped out an LS engine the computer wouldn't be doing to much but monitoring things and then leaving you stranded on the side of the road because a sensor went bad
I am putting in the ls1 now, should be done by summer I hope. looking to get 20 + mpg.
What is your existing setup, mileage etc. that would give us a good base. Always been interested in just what the ls design adds to mpg. Lots of speculation, engineers say the design should generate x more mpg but would like to read about someone on here's first hand experience. Just read your thread on the purchase of the wrecked Camaro, with 90k are you pulling that engine apart or just dropping it in and get as many miles out of it before you need to do a rebuild?
Looking fwd to reading more on your build.

Existing is all original 100k miles 350 with a turbo 350 trans, not sure of the rear gear ratio, but I will find out. Last checked I was getting 13 to 14 mpg, with a mix of city and highway driving.
The camaro I just picked up last week and haven't got into it yet, it was smashed up pretty bad in the front, but I want to at least get to hear it run before I remove it.
This is going to be a daily driver when finished so keeping the ls1 in stock form is the plan.
I will get some more current mpg numbers together, as I prep the ls1 and gather parts needed I will keep driving it until ready for swap.
