Default Another late model wiper thread

I have a '81 with pulse wipers. The wiper motor cleans the windshield and wipes three times when the button is pushed. No low or high speeds. I do hear the relay in the jack compartment clicking. Before I pull out my trusty voltmeter does anybody have an idea where to start? I've reviewed some past threads and am about to start the trouble shooting process. Where would you recommend that I start first? Switch, motor, relay?

Did the 1981 shop manual have a diagnostic flow chart?

No flow chart just detailed information on operation. Also a wiring diagram.

I got the bypass harness. Does anybody know where to plug it in? No instructions were included.

Default Update

I plugged the bypass harness into the wiper delay module harness. This did not fix the problem. I still have the same symptoms. Wiper motor checks out ok. Switch has to be the problem. I'm not looking forward to gutting the dash anytime soon so I guess this drought in Texas is somewhat of a good thing for now.

To gain access to the wiper switch you remove the speedo and tach housing.

Once you gain access to the switch.. rebuild it. I think your problem is in the switch.

Default Frustrated as hell

I took the switch out and cleaned it per Willcox's excellent instructions. Now my wipers work but will not turn off. I guess it's time to locate a switch.

Great news for all who give a care. There is finally a reproduction switch for sale for the 78-82s with delay wipers. I purchased one and guess what? It's raining so I can't work on the thing yet. Go figure.

Default Follow up

I installed the reproduction switch and I have all wiper functions except delay. Guess it's time for the new reproduction pulse wiper module that just came out?

Seriously!
I'm about to do the SAME thing to my '80.

If you don't mind posting up some details?
I have to go through mine and trouble shoot it. I don't drive it in the rain but I don't want to be stuck out there in the middle of a down pour and not have my wipers.

I didn't do much troubleshooting. I just replaced parts until it worked right. I knew my wiper motor was good as the PO had just replaced it. I took my out switch out and cleaned it. That didn't fix it so I knew I needed a switch.

The Willcox Corvette website has tech articles on how to access the switch and clean it. The links are posted earlier in this thread.

Most forum vendors now have the reproduction switch and wiper delay modules for the late model C3s.

Best of luck to you.
