Hey guys, I know this may be a simple question to ask, but, how do you get the **** off an automatic shifter, '81 couple

does it unscrew or is it pressed on???

Believe it unscrews counter-clockwise

Unscrew it. It's a plain ol' right hand thread, just like 98% of the bolts in the world.

If it's the same as the '76 the push button must be unscrewed first, then the shifter know can be unscrewed.
