I have managed to get a replacement outer door handle spring to fall behind the door handle itself. Bone head move. Anyway is there any advice out there how to get it out from under the handle short of removing the entire thing which sounds like isnt a fun time? 1978 Indy Pace model.
That is a good idea but in my case not sure it will work, the spring being in a v shape and sprung that way to hold the handle up, will likely not let it come back up through such a small open. Although if I can just get ahold of one end if it I could probably pull it out.
Can you get or make a tool with a hook on it to pull it out?
Otherwise you will have to remove the door panel and the access door for the window motor. Reach up and undo the bolts that hold it in place. Don't mess around with any of the window tracks and stops, real pain to get the window to align again.
The opening around the latch is very narrow, as the handle sweeps down to the open the door position there is little room. I am going to see if I can hook it....if not guess will be taking things apart!!! Thanks
Personally, I would get a couple pieces of wire and try to fish it out for hours before I broke down and removed the handle. Good luck, I hope you are able to hook it.
