I attached the 350 yoke to the drive shaft outside of the car. I went undder to attach it all only to realize that there is not enough room to slide everything into place.
So I re-think and realize why the strap yoke was there in the first place. Problem with this are I have only seen these short yokes and that concerns me because I prefer the long yoke to bite as much shaft as possible...right.
What have you all done THAT WORKS WELL for this setup?
And what did you pay, because these 27 spline yokes are gut wrenching.
About half way down is the yoke pics. I paid $60 for the yoke on the left at it matched my driveshaft ujoints so no conversion ujoint was needed. You can buy these new or used.
There is one on ebay right now for $64.99. It looks like a spicer, same thing I bought. Go to ebay and search "27 spline corvette yoke" its the first one.
I am happy to help as much as I can. Everybody who has done this conversion is so helpful here. Its worth it.
The part number of the one I have that I know works in a 74 is Spicer 2-1469. messaage that seller and ask him the number. That would be a plug and play solution unless you already changed the ujoint. (if that is the case disregard everything I just said.)

Just for you I crawled under my car in my pj's to take this pic. This is a shot of how much of the shaft is exposed with a load on the wheels. It is at the exact same place as the mark on the yoke on the left in the pic above. That is a wear line from before I bought it and it is sitting at the same place now.
Thanks John. And you didn't have to get under there in your PJs but it answered my questions of all those short yokes being sufficient. I did look at the ebay yoke and i'm gonna get it.
im gonna read more of what you posted on the thread from last week and compare to make sure I didnt forget something. Keep up with this thread...I may have some questions.
Thanks again. Like most members, I rely on other members with experience to answer perplexing questions.
I am always looking for an excuse to talk cars. There are several heavy hitters here when it comes to overdrive conversions. I spent many hours reading and rereading their posts and this forum remains one of the most used tools for my car.
