Been working on my vetts since the willow spring race.. and getting some good input, but I think this deserves a thread of its own...
can you name these sounds????
The first is a harmonic squeal of some sort, it only comes on when at a constant opening, but opening up or closing down the throttle at any rate causes it to go away...
I have to suspect that there is a tiny little vacuum leak (whistle) at the base of the carb or a split vacuum line. I had one car that sounded like a tea kettle, it turned out to be a casting flaw in the intake manifold. A little spot of epoxy and the whistle was gone.
I am not able to help on the other sound, cant hear it on these little speakers. LOL Use a stethoscope to determine the exact source for either item. Let us know what you find.

Use a piece of vacuum line and put one end to your ear and use the other end to find the vacuum leak in the first video. Another option is to spray ether / starting fluid around the base of the carb and listen for the RPM's to pick up. When they do you have found your vacuum leak.
Going to get out the starting fluid and see if that ia a leak.... But I have my doubts.... It's pretty loud.... And more of a harmonic from the inside of the 4brl.......
And I think I'll pop the drivers valve cover tomorrow....
How about the timing chain area? It doesn't sound like an impact point but more like a pulsing rub of some kind. Unfortunately some of these sounds transmit through the engine. The best way for me to find stuff like this is to use a timing light and move the probe from plug wire to plug wire to see if the noise and spark from any particular cylinder seem to match. Then if they do, I start there with a long handle screw drive to my ear and go from there.
Keep the screw driver clear from anything moving. Hard to get a screw driver back out of your ear.
It's kind of a long-shot, but have you tried to replicate the first noise with the air-cleaner off? It kinda sounds like a piece of sheetmetal vibrating. Do you have an air-cleaner base gasket?

That was along some of the thoughts I had.... But it is currently a different air cleaner, as the CAI unit is with the mold makers.....they said I would have parts last friday...hmmmm.... I'll call them today
anyway... both a/c's were making the same sounding harmonic sound...
