Going down the road over rollers (small rise, dip, rise) the rear tries to beat the front of the car down the road.
Everything is new under the car except the trailing arm bushings and the differential. And everything is tight - no play in the diff or the bushings.
More detailed description:
Driving above 50 mph and the road goes up and down, the rear of the car will shift to the right. Today, I was probably at 80 mph, it (the rear) shifted hard to the right, and I wondered if I'd be able to collect it before bad things happened.... I did, but I need to figure out what is going on.
The road is in good condition, tires and everything but above is new, road is basically level. It starts to shift as it's going up.....
Sure sounds like Your alignment is way off or it is changing itself wile you are driveing. I once had a C3 Aligned at a local shop and it would hardly stay on the road, took it to a diffrent shop after a 70 miles and it was way off. As with any other job I would stay away from the Chain Stores and find a Local shop that dose work for the local Track guys. I know You have been under there looking for some movement, but I still think something is loose or worn out.
If the endplay on one or both of the diff yokes is excessive, the toein could change dramatically.
You must do what I do, think "camber" type "toe".... but you make an excellent point. I'm starting to wonder if that's it - the rear diff acts like an open differential, which suggests the clutches are no longer present. If that were the case, it's rest and extended camber could change dramatically - only thing is, wouldn't it change the left side? (thinking outloud)
If the bushings are gone, or one of the toe shims feel out after alignment and the arm moves, that would cause issues. But you state everything is tight.
Do you have a new spring? If so check your Z height.

the problem pre-dates the spring - it has to be the bushings, there's nothing else it can be
I've spent the last two days pulling them off.... got 1/2 of the left side off (ugh).
