My 1968 AC evaporator box has a hole in it from the exhaust manifold.
Does anybody know if a later year (box only) will fit a 68.
There are some 1969 and 1971 boxes currently available.
Thanks in advance,
Marshal
How bad is the hole? I installed a heat shield on mine like the newer cars have to keep the heat from the headers from going through the box. If you want a easy fix just do that. Mine actually looks pretty good that way I think.
Lil Red Corvette & Easy Mike,
thanks for responding.
The patch idea would work out for my tastes.
And then I could insulate as suggested.
It doesn't look bad at all that way LRC.
Happy New Year,
Marshal
Still curious,( in case this box falls apart upon removal for repairs) if I can use any other years?
Looked at box again allot of stress crazing.
Anybody done it with their 68?
Thanks,
Marshal
The A/C configuration from 68-72 are virtually identical, I don't think you would have any issues using the case from any of those years.
Even the 73 on up boxes are pretty similar except for some subtle differences on the outside such as mounting bosses for the ancillary bits etc.
