I just did some searchs in the Audio Forum and didn't have any luck. Back in 1994 my C3 was heavily modified for a component stereo system. They cut two 8 inch holes in the panel behind the seats. Since you can see right through to the ground they then fiberglassed it in. Of course since the subs were not enclosed properly it didn't give the bass that you would think that two 8" Polk subs would. The subs need to be replaced now and I'm looking for better ideas. My car is a convertible so that limits locations even more.
Anyone out there have any good ideas for subs in a convertible C3?

I have a small box in mine but your convert will have a lot less room. Post a picture of the area you have to work with.
This is where the subs have been since 1994. Currently my plan is to just replace them with ???? and use dynomat on this panel and inside the storage and battery box areas.
I haven't attempted this yet so it may not be all that helpful.
Was planning on doing 2x8" Polk MM subs in the back corners above the body mounts since it is basically wasted space most of the time. Then mount the amp to the back wall.
I have one 8" sub with a 200 watt amp and it will flat out shake the windows. I don't think there is enough space the back corners for a sub and they need to be in an enclosure to work correctly.
It seems the Polk DB3 subs I've been using are not free space subs. What if I just replace them with some free space subs in the existing holes and add dynamat. How do you guys think that will work? Kicker free space subs are only $100 for the pair.
Why not check with some of the folks in the electronics/audio section, as several pro installers there, with some being in pretty well equipped shops. Can't hurt, and my be in some surprises.
