1969 roadster 350/300 auto...gonna start troubleshooting my headlights...by reversing the vacuum at the actuators, they rise and close...There is a switch or something under the dash...has vacuum hoses going to a plastic piece with two fittings...this is broken...what's it all about?
So there is a small plastic block with two fittings, one of them broken, hanging from below the dash. Seems like a good reason for my headlight issue? Or maybe it's for the wiper door. Looks like I will be wanting an owners manual too. Tomorrow I'll try to just couple the two hoses and see what happens as I don't have a new piece yet.
Mario,
Here is a link to a headlight troubleshooting guide. The plastic piece is for the headlights, not the wiper door. After seven years of headlight issues, I used this guide and got my headlight issues fixed. With a vacuum pump, you can test all components in an hour or so.
Great Document! Saved it to my hard drive and will read it carefully...looks priceless...Thanks a million
When purchasing your manual, I recommend both the Chassis Service Manual, and the Assembly Manual. I have found it to be a great help for certain jobs on My 70.

This is the over-ride switch Mario.. If one is broken then yes you'll have issues.
The over-ride is there so that you can maintenance the lamps. If you pull it downward the lamps will stay open.. or if on the one for the wiper door.. it will stay open for service of the wiper arms. If the tit is broken off one of the valves you'll lose vacuum.
Hi Willcox,
I noticed both the 'early' and 'late' diagrams show only one headlight relay.... have you seen any really late cars that have two headlight relays?
Regards,
Alan
