Default NO Dash lights

Team,
My 79 C3 has no dash lighs. I got it this way and have replaced the light switch and still no luck. The 7.5 fuse in the fuse block is good. Has anyone else fought this issue?
Any help would be appreciated.
Chip

I had the same problem when I got my 79 and by elimination I found the problem. Fuse, headlight switch, ground or printed circuit board. Good luck finding Your ghost

Where is the ground? That's what I'm looking for today.

[This post assumes that you've turned the headlamp switch **** both directions, to make sure the dash lights weren't just turned OFF.]

Regardless of where the ground is supposed to be, you can easily test whether 'grounding' is the problem with your lights, or not. Just find a piece of wire [3' long, or more) and strip the insulation off the ends. Touch, or connect, one end to a known good ground source (metal piece connected to frame, ground lug at the fuse block, etc).

With the ignition turned to ON [engine OFF] and headlight switch pulled ON to the parking lights position, touch the other end of the ground wire to some metal components on the backside of the driver's dash (speedo housing, tach housing, etc.). If grounding is your problem, the lights in the speedo/tach area should light.

P.S. Since those dash lights draw a fair amount of current, there may be some sparks when you make ground connection. But, there is no risk of getting shocked or causing a fire (unless there is a mouse nest of fibers right where you are making the connection ). It is always a good idea to remove any rings or metal jewelery to prevent any possible direct short through them.

The ground is on the left hinge piller above the courtesy light.
