I have a 71 with a 454 and ordered the replacement oil pressure sending line. my question is what seals the copper line where it goes into the block? the other side of the line has a ferule that compresses.
when you tighten this side does it just crush and form a seal or am I missing something?
Looks to me like the end of the threaded ferrule that is on your tubing crushes around the tube and seals to the inside of your adapter fitting when you tighten everything up.
Lube the fitting beforehand so that all your torque goes into making the connection tight and not just fighting the friction of the threads..
The nut crushes very slightly on the tube. Put the tube into the nut as you have, start the nut into the fitting and hold pressure on the tube into the fitting as you tighten the nut.
