Piston Ring Problems
Hi Guys I'm currently building a 454 for my 77 corvette. I put the rings on the pistons and found the oil rings will not collapse and are sitting on the expander ring. The expander ring have a small lip on them where the oil ring should sit. Does any one have any ideas whats happening? Its a gen 5 big block if that helps.

Look closely at the ends of the oil ring where it butts together. Usually there are little plastic buttons on the ends so you can easily see them. They can often get overlapped during the assy of the oil ring package and won't allow things to compress.
