rebuild front suspension, Borgeson steering conversion, electric fan, new radiator, 2 new tires and what ever else I find I need to do while I'm in there
Removed the engine to repair a leaking oil pan and timing chain cover. New power steering pump to replace the one that was leaking. New heater core (and heater and rad hoses while the cooling system is empty.) Sent headers off for ceramic coating. If I get time, I'm also going to pull out the passenger side power window motor and lubricate it. I replaced the driver side last year and can't believe how fast it moves now.
Rebuild heads
replace cam and lifters
replace timing chain
replace front cross member
replace radiator support
repair and clean up radiator
Paint heads, timing cover, manifolds, oil pan
clean intake
and the biggest part - Reassemble!
At reassembly now, goal is to have a runner by the time the warm weather rolls around.......
Rebuilt in 1999. Enhanced with a number of top end pieces since then. Last dyno was about 224hp/289tq @ rear wheels. I'll need to find a local tuner to get some updated dyno numbers once I am satisfied I've worked all the bugs out. Will post pics and commentary once I start.
I'm refreshing the cylinder heads with the necessary Comp K-Kit pieces and installing the XE270 retro-roller cam/lifters kit.
My parts are arriving in next 3-5 business days:
Comp Retro-roller K-Kit for Gen 1 (very comprehensive and 100% comp brand)
Comp Ultra pro magnum 1.52 roller rockers
Fel-Pro top end gasket kit
Reinforced timing cover and gasket kit - for roller (hope it clears water pump)
crank damper (I have one of those handy Proform covers that has 180 degrees of timing marks covering my current damper)
Fuel pump pushrod
composite dizzy gear
NEW TOOL!!! (I have the other needed tools)
Cam handle for installation
I'm sure I'll start a 'While-I'm-At-It' list as I get into the project.
As a footnote, this is my FIRST major engine project since I added the DART Iron Eagles back around year 2000 in FL. This time, I have to heat the garage (AR).
wow, Jc, nice engine! good job. for me, now that I finally got everthing under the hood buttoned up with a new fuel pump and holley 750 double pumper. I may get into repainting. not sure yet. I gotta keep one eye on govt. too though, I'm thinking SHTF soon...always could use more items to prepare.

Major mod for this winter will be installing a Comp Cams Magnum 286 retrofit hydraulic roller .560" lift to compliment the AFR 195's I installed last winter. Also updating my original HEI with the MSD Ultra HEI kit. I didn't realize until I took delivery that this kit has a multi spark discharge during the starting cycle. It also has a rev limiter which was a feature that I was looking for.

Started on the winter project in December. My goal was full interior, engine, brakes, steering and suspension upgrades myself and exterior paint after all my stuff was done.
So far I have done the following.
Rebuilt the engine and now it is complete roller setup with KB pistons, eagle crank/rods, dart heads, Holley carb etc all the bells and whistles.
Redid the entire interior outside of the gauge bezel and gauges. Went with all replacement OEM parts I could find in great shape and only ordered a shift console and parking brake console and carpet repops.
Installed a Borgeson kit and removed the leaky stock setup. Replaced the stock wobble column with a decent one from ebay.
Replaced the shocks with sensatracs, installed a complete new brake system with carbon kevlar pads and stainless lines/hoses. Installed carbon sway bars front and rear.
Installed a full stainless magnaflow kit on the car. Also installed an aluminum radiator and an aftermarket trans radiator in front of that.
What I have left to do is chase down an electrical drain, finish removing the brackets for the stock steering ram, need to re-install the hood, fix the headlight system as it's unpredictable, replace all weatherstripping, locate some kick panels, fix a few small wiring issues on the heater system, and finally start on some light body work before sending it out for professional paint.
I also have an E Street FI system but I need more feedback and to see if anyone else has done this install on a C3 before I install it on mine.
