Any reason why you dont have the current one rebuilt? Not sure where you are looking but if you need a used rebuilt one, there are no new ones, just stating the application should be sufficient. The spec. you are stating diameter, stall speed, etc. refer to the torque convertor not the transmission. Here is a stock convertor from autozone http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par..._7736%2C104427
My trans is dead... is better if i buy a new brand like a hughes or a TCI, with new tork converter (my converter could have metal inside).
I want to buy something ready to install, no complications for me because i am from Chile, my english isnt very well, i dont understand much of mechanic and here is very expensive to repair this stuffs
Why do you need a new tranny? Can't get the one you have rebuilt?
I would do a search on 200-r4s. They are pretty much a direct replacement for a 400 plus they have an overdrive.
You can use your stock converter or go with a new one. I got a B&M hole shot 2100 (1800 stall).

FWIW: You can buy the How To Rebuild Your TH400 book and all the parts you will need to rebuild your TH400 for way less than the $1200 you want to spend on the aftermarket transmission.

Make sure it has the short car tailhousing and output shaft, any of the reputable builders will give you the correct one and a suitable stall converter for your needs, just give one a call, arrange payment and shipping and enjoy.Post a wanted ad on the for sale section here, one of the regulars maybe able to help you out
I recommend that you purchase a THM-200-4R overdrive transmission...unless you wish the car to remain exactly like it left the factory. The 200R has four forward ranges, the last one with a .67:1 drive ratio; rpms at highway speeds will be 2/3 of what they are with the THM-400. You will have to add a Throttle Valve (TV) cable and set it up correctly, and there are some minor other changes to the installation; but the benefits to driver comfort and engine 'comfort' are well worth it...not to mention an improvement in fuel mileage of 25% or more.
For activation of the lockup clutch, I suggest purchase of a lockup controller, like the one produced by Bowler (Google it). If you want a less expensive...but still effective...lockup apply method, I can send you the design I came up with. It is inexpensive, simple to install, and it is safe to use.
