The rear window glass in my 76 was loose and of course, leaking. When I removed the trim, I could see that the lower support seemed loose. After I removed the window glass, I found the window bead was actually holding the lower support in place. That is probably why the glass shifted and eventually broke loose from the bead.
It looks like this piece was once glued in place, but obviously the glue used did not hold. Is there a recommended glue or epoxy that will be permanent? I looked in the AIM around UPC E01-E12, but it looks like the part has already been assembled before the window is installed.
The piece on the passenger side seems really solid across the back, but there are some small cracks in the corner that I can widen if I flex the fiberglass.
I planned to open the cracks up a little with a dremmel bit and fill it with the same glue. Any other ideas?
After some searches on the forum, I have seen recommendations for Fuzor, Evercoat, and Duramix with different part numbers. Is one better than the other for this particular seam?
I am new to fixing the body work on my vette and really could use some help with this. Can I assume it is SMC and not fiberglass even inside? I have some Evercoat 499 Fiberglass resin from another project. Will that keep the piece bonded through our Texas summers? I don't want to make a bigger mess than I already have. Thanks to anyone that can help.
Hello, cwaynem, i used west systems epoxy resin #105 with #206 hardner mixed 5 to 1.you can buy west systems resin at most marine/boat stores.ecklers also sells sheet molded resin #10698 for smc fiberglass.you may want to use some glass mat on the underside of the split piece to reinforce it some.
