I was stopped at a light while driving my C3 last night and a C4 comes by. I waved and I got no wave in return, just a stare. I then saw a C5 coming up behind me and the C4 guy sticks his whole arm out the window waving at the C5. You guessed it... the C4 got snubbed by the C5.
I am actual in Ypsi but only a few would have any idea where it is so I used A2 as my city. What year and color are you? I am med blue with a custom mini black bra on the front. We can save the wave in A2!
Who knows...it could have been that the C4 didn't know about the wave, then waved at the C5 just because it was the next vette he saw and is now waving. Personally, I think new owners, and even previously owned car buyers should be provided with "Wave Etiquette" pamphlets! If we let this feature die then we might as well be driving camaros.
It happens some times. Don't lose any sleep over it. There are lots of C4 and C5 people that are true enthusiasts and wave. The rest probably don't even know the C3 is a vette. My problem is that I have my wave all set up and ready to go when I see a C4 and then realize it was just a firebird. :reddevil
I think there should be a pecking order -- out of respect, the later model vettes should initiate the wave to the older vettes. But I would rather save the wave than worry about the pecking order. Most C5ers do wave, but they always wait for me to initiate. That's fine, as long as they wave. My son rode with me in my vette the other day and couldn't believe that vetters wave at each other. He had no idea.
Yep....I usuallly get snubbed by c4 and c5 drivers too. At first i just got plain mad and swore I would not wave any more. Then I found my self automatically waving again. I would usually look away immediatly after I waved, so as to not receive the newer vette's snub. Now I'm at the stage of waving and awaiting either a wave in return or....the snub. I think some people do not actually see the wave. However, as we all know, c3er's never snub another fellow vette owner. As replied earlier, the dude probably didn't even know about the wave, then finally figured it out and tried it on the next vette that came along. In this case a non-waver c5. Just keep wavin, there are c4 and c5 enthesiasts out there, and some wave back. L8TER, Paul.
Yep, I too get snubbed all the time by the C4 and C5 guys. I'm almost tempted to go to their part of the forum and ask "What's up with that?" :boxing :D
as long as other c3's wave that's fine by me...half the guys i see drivg c5's up here in Toronto dont look like they are fimiliar or appreciate the heritage of the car anyway...no loss for me...
I was on the way to a Jacksonville Forum get together last night and saw a C3, a C4 and 2 C5's on the way. I waved at all of them and got nothing in return. :cuss
But I did have a Jacksonville Sheriffs Office marked traffic unit come sliding up next to me, roll down the window and give me a BIG wave. :seeya Go figure.
As a C5 owner I must say that I have waved at a couple of C3's and not gotten a wave back. Just a blank stare.
I've seen many in C2's and never gotten a wave back. The most responsive seem to be the C4 crowd.
I kinda figured a C5er would jump in here. As quoted by stickand dice...C2s and C3s are not even acknowledging the C5s. Is there a cycle here? We, the C3s are not waving because we anticipate not getting a return wave. And maybe, rightfully so. However, Don't give into the urge of not waving to a C4 or C5. As the motto goes....Save The Wave!! L8TER, Paul.
I had the Miata out Sunday and waved at an oncoming Audi TT. She waved back. Then I met an oncoming C5. The woman in the passenger seat waved first, but the guy driving looked miffed. I waved back though. Who knowns, maybe I'll get to drive that C5 someday. I always wave when I'm in the 73.
I'll be looking for your '73 ragtop. We're bound to run into each other one of these days. I live in Ann Arbor, but work in Ypsilanti (at EMU). Mine's a bright yellow '76 L82 with white leather seats and alumium wheels. You can't miss it out on the road!

I try to wave at ALL generations of Vettes and most wave back. It doesn't bother me too much when I get snubbed. The waves from true Vette enthusiasts more than make up for it. It makes me appreciate being part of the culture.
I just thought it was kind of funny to see a snubber get snubbed right back by someone else.
When were driving in my Suburban the kids yell out Corvette on Mommy's side or daddy side when they spot one. It's fun to know they are always looking and can spot one.. but they always say.. nah.. I like daddy's better. :) While driving in the vette my daughter, although she can barely see over the dash board will give a hardy wave when she sees another vette. If they don't wave back I just say their mommy's and daddy's didn't teach them good manors while growing up. :blueangel:
When I am driving in my C3 I get lots of waves from other restored classic cars -- mostly Camaros. That's a great sign that the C3s are becoming vintage cars.
I wave and get waves in return. A lot of the C4 guys in the newer C4's(92 and up) don't wave. I got snubbed by a C4 driver the other day, but a pack of 4 C5's rolled by and they all waved. I am new to the Corvette wave, but I used to own a crotch rocket, and all motorcyclists wave at each other. Very friendly.
I live about a 3 blocks from the COB and work in the ind park across the highway (Engineered Plastic Products). I cruise up cross street a lot near the dick. Every see that t-shirt: 'Do it with Eastern Energy' and a pic of the dick? Hilarious
Thought the bikers did more of a point towards the ground? Or is that just the real  guys?
When I rode my Harley I use to drop my left arm.. no wave.. just point at the other biker.. Lifting my arm over my head and waving caught too much wind and too much flack....
