Default Luggage rack removal

I want to remove my luggage rack because I think they are fugly. The body is off the car. It's going to get painted this summer after the body is back on the frame. Do I block off the holes with some glass mat to make filling the holes easier for my bodyman or can he patch them from the top of the car?

Yes, you need to glass the bottom. Then taper the top of the hole, back 1 1/2" diameter. That's the way mine were repaired, and still look great 2 years later.

The correct repair is to work from both sides.

Hi,
I agree that the hole needs to be tapered on each side so that the repair is about the size of a silver dollar but the hole itself is no larger than it was.
It's VERY important to do the ENTIRE repair with mat and resin without out using ANY bondo or filler.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Agree! The only thing I don't like about my car is the luggage rack. Some day when its time for paint, it will come off.

Where these things necessary? Who was really loading up the truckster for a long haul with lots of gear???
