Hello all, I looked through alot of the posts but did not find one exactly like mine. I replaced the Headlight actuators and vacuum solonoids along with new air filter and vacuum diverter, the passenger side headlight is always a little quicker than the driver side, and the passenger side goes down completely first and then driver's side goes down. They operate pretty quick but how do I make them go up and down in unison ? They go up pretty much together but why wont they go down together? any ideas would be greatly appreciated as all the controls are brand new..
Hi m75,
It's very sad, but the truth is that some of the NEW parts you've purchased may not be working correctly.
That seems to happen all too often.
I believe the way to approach your problem is to test each component individually using a vacuum pump with a vacuum gauge like a Mity-vac.
There is a test procedure for each component. You might also test your original components since it's likely some of them are just fine and might actually work better than your new parts.
If you're still using your original hoses you might check those first. Often all THEY need is to have about 3/8" cut off each end so there is a new sealing surface at the various nipples the hoses attach to.
Sorry!
Regards,
Alan
Alan, are both the actuators interchangeable? I replaced them the same way I took them out, so the top vacuum line on points to the outside of the vehicle on each side, would it matter if I put them in on the wrong side?

The actuators can be replaced left to right but you have them on the correct way, the nipple turns outward. It will not matter which way you have them.
You issue could be the parts you replaced or it could be many other things. The pivot bearings on one side could be dragging more than the other. You may have a T that has cracked and you could have a small leak on one of the hoses. If working with original hoses I usually cut off 1/2" from the old hose providing there is enough hose left to do this.
