Default Can I run this water pump?

Picked this engine up way too cheap. Going to use the intake and would like to use the water pump as well in my c3. Any issues with pulley alignment or fan clearance you think?

How about identifying the pump? What do you have there?

oh you mean you actually want info?

I don't have much yet. I'll pull the pump and see what I can find out. Just wondered if there were special considerations (this is my first C3) where I needed to use a low profile pump or anything special.

That looks like a 'long' pump which won't fit. There again, that manifold might not fit under a stock hood either.

well, it's a standard edelbrock performer (non RPM) intake so I am hoping I can get away with it

It most likely will fit, not sure why it wouldnt. It just depends on a few things. Fan clearance may be a problem. Thats where electric fans may come in handy if needed. If you arent to concerned about it looking incorrect with the long pump, you can also use non corvette pulleys, brackets and accessories. What year vette? That intake should fit under there also.

found out it is long style. Not too concerned about originality. It's a 79. My guess is even if I went electric fan I'd need to space power steering and alternator.

You should have plenty of room, and your intake, even an RPM should be good to go with your 79 hood.

If that isn't a Corvette water pump (which is doesn't appear to be) the shaft diameter will be smaller and your pulley won't work either. Corvettes come with a short water pump and a larger center shaft so your belts won't line up and the pulley won't center correctly. You're better off buying the correct water pump, far less headaches. The standard performer (#2101) will work depending on the air cleaner you use. A drop base air cleaner shouldn't give you any problem.

Good time to convert it to a serpentine setup.

That's a long water pump, which won't work in your Vette unless you convert all of your accessory brackets & pulleys and run electric fans on the radiator. Just buy the right pump for the car.

The intake is not a problem, I run an rpm intake under my stock hood. I also run an aluminium short waterpump and 3/16 shims behind the pulley so the belts line up, no problems.

With a stock air cleaner and cold air intake, or would the OP have to take a step backwards and ditch that to fit an aftermarket open style air cleaner?

A corvette drop base air cleaner with a flat cap will work . Heck you can even run a long water pump on a longer big block, still clear and still have a clean set-up with plenty of room.

Sure you can run the long pump, if you ditch all your accessory mounting brackets, replace them all with long pump brackets, and get the long pump harmonic balancer pulley and buy an electric fan setup. You should be able to get all that for under $700. Why buy a new $39 pump..??

Obviously.

I dont know what parts he already does or does not have for it. Just saying it will fit, and the owner dont care to much about it being correct.

Sometimes they actually come complete. Here's mine.

If you can show me where to buy an aluminum water pump for $39, I'm all in
