Do you have an air compressor? Do you want to make this an easy job? Do you have about 75 bucks to invest in cheap tools?
1) HF pneumatic hammer gun
2) pickle-fork for above tool. (I got the craftsman combo kit for about 45 bucks)
Those joints will split in about 15 seconds. No worry about smashing your knuckles, swinging a hammer in enclosed spaces, knocking over your beer with said hammer......
I have one of those as well. Another problem with using any sort of pickle fork whether you're swinging a hammer or using air is you'll destroy the boot. Sure, not a big deal if you're replacing the joint, but lets say you're just trying to get the oil pan off.

Do it. Buy it. You won't regret it. I used to dread doing front end work. But having that one simple tool makes a world of difference. I could pop every joint loose under there in 10-15 minutes if I wanted to.
