I just replaced the trailing arm bushings on my 81 but didn't realize I needed a special instalation tool to flare the sleeve and compress the bushings. Does anyone have one they would like to sell? I can buy one from Zip corvettes for $55.00, but I would rather save the cash and buy a used one, since they're not exactly somthing you need every day.
Check Ebay. I saw a post where a guy found on there for 20.00 bucks. Here is a link that has one for less than 50.00. Not much though. http://www.performancechoice.com/pc.html?frame=5.1415
If I see one I will let you know.
I made my own and used the end other end of an air hammer bit and hit it with a hammer to make the flare, works good. I plan to use it again in the future, but if you get creative you may find a way to get it done without a tool.
I created the exact same tools as '75 and am expecting good results.
I went as far as to build a 'horseshoe' tool to fit in between the two bushings within the trailing arm as not to crush them or the arm when I will use the press to get the desired 'bell' on the sleeve.
