Default Manual transmission wiring

How did the General wire the neutral safety switch and back up lights for the manual transmission cars? I am working on converting my '79 automatic to a stick. The back up lights and neutral safety switch are wired to the shifter in the auto cars, while the neutral safety is on the clutch pedal for the stick cars, and the back up light switch is on the transmission. Did the General use a completely different wiring harness, or is there an add-on harness to extend it for the manual trans cars?

the neutral switch has a plug by the clutch already in the harness. the bu switch should have a wiring pigtail attached. re-route the bu switch wire on the a/t harness, and make the attachment after the switch pigtail passes through the same grommet as the tach drive cable.

When I converted over to manual,I spliced in the neutral switch on the clutch pedal to the auto neutral switch on the shifter. You'll need your year wiring diagram to locate the correct wires. Very simple to do.Tip have all the wires hooked up to the manual safety switch on the pedal before you bolt it up to the firewall.Make sure the connectors are on solid. It's a bitch to get to that switch once the pedal is bolted up in place. Here's my Manual Trans write up..Hope this helps...It's really worth the effort!! http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...am-change.html

I'm confused
I just converted my auto 75 to a 5 speed manual Tremec. I'm confused on the wiring. I installed a neutral safety switch on the clutch petal and ran the wire to the console. Do you connect it to the wiring harness under the console where the automatic plugged in? And how do you wire the safety switch on the tranny into this?
I'm also confused on how to wire the reverse lights ? Did you run the light green and pink wire to the reverse terminal on the tranny?
I can't believe I'm stuck on this part of the build. Please help!!!!
