I would like to personally thank whoever changed the pinion seal last and used green loctite on the nut. This went from a 1/2 day job to... it's time to pull the rearend and of course all of the "while I'm at" jobs. With everything out of the car except for the front and rear suspension, I'm very close to the "might as well pull the body" dilemma
Well based on my limited research, it depends on which green loctite was used. The green retaining compound is apparently used when you want the nut basically welded on. All I know, there is a bunch of a green substance at the end of the pinion and I twisted a 1/2" extension by using a breaker bar. I also used a 3/4" air impact gun after heating it with MAPP gas to no avail.
You might need an oxy/acetylene torch to get it hot enough.
If your meaning of MAPP is one of the small propane bottles with the screw on head then you need more heat. Doesn't necessarily have to be acetylene but you need a setup with an oxygen tank.
