My friend Mike and me took out the diff. today because me and my friend are swapping my 3.08 for his 3.70. So, hopefully, this will make my low end torque more noticable. It only took us about 2 1/2 hours to do EVERYTHING. The hardest part was getting the drive shaft off. You have to remove that little "nose" thing with the bushing and you have to get a wrench on the top (which the drive shaft is in the way) and take the bottom nut off. That probably took the most time. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to clean all the crud from under there. The most suprizing thing was, after all that work, mike or myself got cut or anything. But, while cleaning up I did trip and bust my knuckles wide open....I'll have pics tomorrow or later tonight.
But if you have pics of your work I would like to see them! :) What if you sprayed it all with simple green, gave it 15 minutes and came back and sprayed it all off with a hose? Might need some elbow grease, but i have been amazed how much crud will fall off with just that technique. MJ
That's what it looked like when I started. It's still the 3.08 rear. I've still got a LOT to clean up and paint. Simple green, wire brushes and electric drills are in order for tomorrow.
