Went today to get the car weighed for the move. GM says that Gross Vehicle Weight is 4200+ with 450 lbs of load. With no spare tire and an empty tank, the weight of the vert was:
3320 lbs
Nothing special except the aluminum heads, manifold, headers, and glass spring. Not too shabby.
C2 forum visitor, my 1966 conv, 427, alum heads, side ex , mono rear spring, no spare, jack or spare tire carrier assy, no radio, tipped the scale at NE Dragway 3080 LBS , no driver 1/3 tank of fuel................. :)
I'm hoping for 3200 with me in it (I weigh about $1.50... :) )!! Curb weight is 3300. I'm getting aluminum wheels, dropped the spare tire and assembly, alum radiator, aluminum heads, and aluminum water pump (a big 3lbs). I'll weigh in after the wheels are on in a couple of months!
I got my '81 down to 3130 lbs (normal driving condition except there was no driver or fuel)- Also, with 1/4 tank of fuel I have a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.
With me in the 75 vet and I weigh 194, a full tank of gas , a 8-71 blown big blokck we weigh exact 3700 pounds. So the car is 3500 and it is loaded with light wieght parts.
I ran my '76 over the scale at the local landfill about a year or so ago. It was wearing race tires, a full tank of gas, no passenger seat and the shorty exhaust. They told me 3,600 with me in it. That would make it around 3,400 without the driver. I don't know how accurate a landfill scale is, though.
If I recall right 3346 with me (150) and spare tire and 1/2 tank of gas. I have since removed the spare for another couple of pounds reduction. I figure around 3150 to 3200
3060 lb with almost empty tank. Since then I have removed the spare (about45 lb) but added stereo (about the same weight...). Interesting thing was that the weight distribution was 1540 front / 1520 rear, with driver and some gas it is a bit rear heavy.
