Temp sending unit search
Looking for some forum help. I just put a set of Dart Heads on my 400 in my Vette. The original temp sending unit was 1/2 NPT and the hole in the Dart head is 3/8. Does anyone know of a unit that would be a direct bolt in without the use of sizing fittings?

The replacement temp senders don't match the gauge very well to give accurate readings. The best choices are to relocate the original sender to the intake manifold, tap the hole in the head to 1/2 npt, or get your original sender cut down and threaded to 3/8 npt.

About 10 years ago I installed vortec heads. Wanted to use my original temp sending unit which did not fit. Don't recall the npt sizes. Anyway, I simply visited my local hardware store, sat in a chair on the brass fittings aisle and made my own adapter to fit. Used some thread sealant tape and have never had a single issue. If memory serves me correctly it took two fittings plus the temp sender to make it work.
