Default Temp sender

I have a 1970 vette and was noticing that there is a temp sender in each head. Are they the same rating and why 2? Just curious.
Thanks

The temp sender is in the left head.
The sender in the right head is for emissions.

The one in the right head (2 spade pins) is a temp sensitive switch used in the TCS emissions system.

They look identical. Do they have the same temp rating?. My car doesn't have any emissions anymore except the PCV valve. What emissions did it come with?

They are the exact same part.
The TCS was the Transmission Spark Control. Most have long past been removed, unless in original condition. Mine was no longer hooked up when I purchased the vehicle.

The TCS system is very complicated, there are lots of parts. Here's an overview.

The temp sender in the left head is a "Wells" TU5, but good luck finding one that is calibrated correctly.
Willcox has a how to that shows you how to repair your original sender.
