I consider myself a few steps above your typical home-bubba-wrench turner. Ive pulled engines in just a few hours and rebuilt carbs in parking lots, but I refuse to touch differentials. Too much mojo, too many techniques that either involve a learned 'feel' or a bunck of expensive tools I dont own. Anyways, I brought my rear diff to a local speed shop. Had my pinion and yoke seals replaced. Bill came out to less than 150 bucks out the door. If you ask me, 150 bucks is well worth the hassle of fighting the pinion nut, taking it all apart and praying I put it back together correctly based on a black magic guesstimate. Hats off to you guys who tackle this project, but this is one of the few jobs Ill outsource.
