I'm ready to purchase headers for my 76. Just curious if I will have issues with the long tubes as far as ground clearance is concerned. What size/type do you recommend?
Engine specs....
350 .30 over
old school 041 heads 64 cc chambers (same specs as the double humps)
basically stock cam 222/222 .298/.298 110/118 @.50
approximately 10.3 compression ratio
Just looking for recommendations before I make purchase
Thanks,
Freddie B
I bought the hedman elites for my car and had problems with the idler arm and the steering ram. I've also read of others having problems with these headers.....a word of warning
Hooker Super Comp. Fit like a glove and good ground clearance. Had to do a little grinding on the mounting plates to clear a spark plug wernch with my Trick Flow heads.
Hooker Super Comps here too. I have L-98 aluminum heads with angle plugs. I had to shorten a spark plug socket to fit the plugs and headers, but other than that, no fitment issue. Ground clearance fine, Borgeson steering box clearance fine, idler arm clearance fine. No issues. This is a '69.
I have hedman 68300 headers on my SBC. It has Dart Pro 1 straight plug aluminum heads and everything fit with no problems. My Vette is a 77 so it should be pretty similar to an 76. I've read angle plug heads cause fitment issues.
