Gentlemen, heres my question. I have a 1980 L48 with an original 350. 140K miles. Its tired and needs a rebuild. I ran into a guy the other day that has a complete 1967 327 300 HP. Came from a 67 Vette.
Will the 327 bolt up in my 1980?
Yes. It is still a small block chevy. The difference may come with accessory bolt holes on the heads for your ps pump and alt and a/c. The motor itself is the original plug and play .
Yes it will fit but it's not necessarily the best choice. Your original engine was rated at 190 HP net, the proposed engine was 300 HP gross.
300 HP gross is somewhere around 210-220 net, not much of a gain. Does it need a rebuild?
There's also concerns with PCV and other hooks ups.
IMOP better off rebuilding what you already have. You'll probably end up doing that anyways with the 327. I have the 327/300 out of my C2 and it's not going back in.
