I bought a new headlight/wiper door pull down vacuum override switch for my '69 from a forum vendor. Because of previous experience with aftermarket parts, I checked it for function. It does work in the pushed in position--maintains vac between the 2 ports. But, when pulled out it is suposed to vent 1 port and seal off the other. It does not. The pull out stop is not placed correctly so that it leaks when fully extended. I can push it in a little and it will seal sometimes.
The vendor did replace it, but the second one is the same. He states that he tested 5 others, and the 1 that I sent back, and that they all work correctly.
I guess "correctly" to him is that they don't leak TOO much.
So, the question is, do they all leak?, and is a partial leak overcome by engine vacuum?
Or is this just aftermarket crap?
