If you look in my signature you can see the side pipes. The more popular style side pipes for the 'Vettes seem to be the Hooker header side pipes (shown in the picture below). In my opinion they are the best looking but kind of suck because they get pretty hot and can burn your legs pretty bad if you are not careful.

:yesnod: There is a guy around here that drives a black 78 vette with those. First time I had seen a newer C3 with them. You mainly see them on the older C3's. It's a nice ride tho. It's one bad vette too. Has cowl induction hood, 454 engine, and some awesome rims

There are 2 style of sidepipes. Hooker style like you see in bence's sig or 69 style like you see in my sig.

The hooker style is more performance oriented as it is a header/sidepipe combination.

The 69 style is less performance oriented as you retain the original exhaust manifolds.

The prices range from $700ish for black Hooker style or 69 style with fiberglass covers to over $2500 for 69 style with OEM chrome covers.

Lots of members here are running sidepipes. I have the hooker sidepipes on mine, and JCL Baffles installed. This vette sounds awesome and will boil the rear tires without a doubt...

The 69 style is less performance oriented as you retain the original exhaust manifolds.
Headers are also avaliable to connect to the factory style '69 sidepipes.

I really like the black and chrome hooker style. They look bad in my opinion...So...can anyone point to me where I can buy them, or where you guys got yours?

Hooker supercomp headers with JCL sidepipes. http://www.spiralturbobaffles.com/customers.php

For the headers, I'd try Summit Racing or Jegs ;) .

Another vote for Hooker Supercomp and JCL sidepipes. You won't regret it!!! Got my headers from Summit and sidepipes w/ baffles from Jim at the above web site. Great guy and very helpful.

Hi
Yes, side pipes are a must.
Unfortunately, I'm still running Neil's restrictive reverse flow mufflers , this due to be able to pass the restrictive noise bi-yearly test.
I have to get my act together and get a set of JCL's to get my sound back. :cry
Thanks to Neil, at least I can drive the car and passed the test.
I will not reinstall the glass packs as the right hand one was badly corroded.
I need some quick release fasteners to remove the side pipes faster.
Dismanteling the rocker panels sucks.
Anyway, don't hesitate, get side pipes.
