The tach on my 79 will not read below 1100rpm. This started right after I reanstalled the ignition module on the distributor with the paste under the module. The tach also would not zero. I replaced the tach board and performed the zero set. The tach now zeros fine in the car but still will not show below 1100rpm reading when it should be at 750rpm. Also it is off about 500rpm at 2000. Tach filter not installed. So its seem to be doing the same thing as the old board did except it will now go to zero. Dave
I had my Tach/speedo cluster out on the weekend to fix a faulty wiper switch, my tach doesnt read right either and I wanted to check the circuit board while I had it out but it wasnt obvious to me how to take the tach out of the housing to get to the board, you obviously have done that, I need to take it out again on Sunday (fix to wiper switch didnt work) so do you want to share with me how you get to it please?

Thanks, Dennis.
You don't need the cluster out of the dash to remove the tach; take the lens off, remove the three nuts retaining the tach to the cluster and pull it straight towards you.
