Hi Guys:
My son and I attended Blom. Gld for the first time this Sunday, and enjoyed ourselves, and the show, very much. I've never seen so many great cars in one spot!! The weather was awsome, (70's) and the turnout was great. It was nice strolling from to section to section on manicured grass, looking at all the "perfect" works of art. The only complaint I have is that the C-3 section was the smallest comparted to the C-1 & C-2's, and there were no "Hot Rods" to drool over. Not one 77 in the bunch.. Lots of 69-74's and 78-81's though. Also enjoyed the auction, where as far as I could tell, was no bargin. Top $$ for everything. Anyone else attend?
Eddie
Yeah, I was there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. My brother and I spent most of our time with our car on the Goldmine field. The highlight for us was when The Bloomington Gold Media film crew video taped and interviewed us for an upcoming promotional video. The drive through St. Charles and the surrounding area made for an attractive road tour. I especially enjoyed the impromptu burn-out contest at one large intersection during the tour. It gathered a rather large crowd of spectators. :yesnod:
Was there Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Took the Road Tour, which only had one glitch (the last stop sign intersection.) Met a lot of really nice folks! Will transfer pics from camera to computer tonight
I was there late Saturday afternoon and most of Sunday morning and left about 2pm. I know I down talked it at being at St.Charles, but in all honesty, I liked it there. Super nice place. When you saw Corvettes, you saw Corvettes. No volunteer's Pintos or VW Rabbits or Jettas sitting around like we did see at the Interstate Center. Also, no weeds to your knees or mud and dust like the Interstate Center. No tow vehicles/trailers in sight except at their designated places. Overall, I thought it was a nice place to have it there. Mecum supposedly has a "three year" contract there from what I heard, so it'll be there at least two more years. Now, I'll look forward to it being there. A real beautiful place to have a show of that caliber. I spent most of my time looking at and talking to owners of "shark" cars. Did'nt even get to say "Hello" to Chuck Gongloff judging the '53-'55 cars, so Chuck, this is "Hello". Sorry I missed you. It was a great weekend of Corvette-ing, that's for sure. :seeya
I was there Sunday, along with the wife and two kids. I paid $10 to park and 15$ per person for admission. That's $70 just to walk in the place. The show was great, but at these prices I don't plan to attend the event in the future. And besides, the best Vette I saw all day was the one sitting in my garage.
so the  is , did you drive the '77 there?????? :smash:
you could have put a sign on her saying she was "one of a kind" since they didn't have another to compare her to !!! or even a "Lone Survivor"

:D :D :D :D [QUOTE]sounds like a good time indeed !
Hi Ed!
Missed you since we went on Saturday. Show was nice. I liked it better in St. Charles mainly the close location but also as others said nice to walk and park on grass or ashphalt instead of dirt or mud. I also noticed the same as sray454, Auction prices were mostly too high - $110K on a '67 BB and $87K on a '58 racer "hulk" or a few surprise low $, like a decent '61 that went for $25.5K
The road tour was a blast. Many Many more people cheering on the sidelines than I expected being the first year in St. Charles. The word must have gotten out to the locals. We enjoyed a group of 3 cars from Iowa in front of us doing MANY burnouts along the way. From what I could surmise, the C3 and C4 owners were having the most fun.
That last stop sign as BlueL46 commented had a backup of about 4 miles in front of it when we got there. This intersection needed a cop to direct us thru like most of the others. I was REAL worried that my '69 was going to over heat with the stop and go but it held up OK. :) After that stop, everyone got split up with other cars in between. Luckily it was near the end of the tour.

Hey Ed... I was there on Sunday with MY 77! I didn't have it the Silver Salute area, though (it was too far out in the boonies), so we pulled in a little closer along with my friends white 76. I thought it was a great place for a show. The wife and friends even enjoyed it. Great setting, made for good pics. All those cars getting judged were awesome! And, if only I had a dime... I saw an absolutely mint beautiful white/red 94 vert on the auction block. Drool.
