Dreaded rod knock, how do you test?

Update: Took 383 apart and found 3,7 and 8 with deformed rod bearings. Not sure if I can call them spun but they would not seat in the rod ends since they were kinda shrunk inward toward center line. Bearings were scored but no evidence of scraping around the rod ends.

I can't tell how bad but bearings are designed to do what is called "crush" toward the parting line. Thats something to do with how the cap distorts under torgue.
Are the journals bad? Are u going to rebearing the motor or complete rebuild?
