Default Difference in proportioning valve ???

Yea I know, its a differentional pressure switch but Ecklers list it as proportioning. Question is which one for a 79?

This one has what appears to have a metering valve for front brakes, one currently installed on car does not.

This one does not have metering valve.

Not to mention the pigtail on my car is of the 77 style which I dont even understand why so I have to change the pigtail.

On your year it actually is a proportioning valve, so the name is appropriate. Earlier C3s do not have a proportioning function, I forget which year they first appeared.

The two pieces you've linked appear to be very similar other than camera angle and price. I don't see any mention of a 'metering valve'.

Why are you changing it?

I have been chasing a soft peddle for a few days now. Replaced the MC and bled the system every way imaginable. Down to this valve

A soft pedal is not going to be in the valve unless the valve is leaking externally. Bench bleeding the master cylinder can be tricky. Once you think you've got it all bled, keep going. When you are double-damn sure the master is purged of all air, you can move to bleeding the calipers.

I dont want to say I had a soft peddle before doing the following but you could not lock up the wheels when mashing the peddle. Rotors were at min. thickness so decided to replace. The fluid in the system prior to all this was dark and nasty.

Sequence of events so far:
1. Replaced front hose (hard line to caliper), new rotors and pads
2. Pedal bled system - soft peddle after
3. Pressure bled and vacuum bled, soft peddle after each
4. Replaced MC, bench bled with outlet ports as high point
5. Gravity bled plus peddle bled, still soft peddle

Now I have hanging brakes after mashing the peddle, takes @ 15 for brakes to release but still no lock up.

Locked up brakes after pedal release suggests incorrect MC or rod length. Next time loosen the two nuts that hold the MC to the booster to see if the brakes release.

You changed rotors. Did you measure and correct runout on the new ones?

I checked the rod length during install and it was good. The brakes don't lock up every time, normal braking it is fine just when I mash the peddle trying to lock up the wheels. I can not even tell if the switch is activating during heavy braking as it is not hooked up. For some reason my 79 as a pig tail like a switch off a 77 and earlier.

Did not check run out, did not know it was required for the front.
