Default Power feed for cameras

Wanting to install front and rear cameras and monitor on my '77 Stingray but don't know best place to pick up + and ground inside car. Plan on using on/off/on switch and in-line fuses ( don't care to hook up to reverse lighting). Should I hook into fuse block or look for another switched hot wire or go straight off battery? Thanks, and no I'm not crazy it is just that my wife wants to drive car and she has no clue as to where the front of car ends and I don't want her coming home with a busted nose. I'm sure I can get it to work but I would like to do it the right way and not butcher it up. Plan on using clip on or suction cup for monitor so it can be un-pluged and put away when not needed.... (she gets tired of driving the thing and goes back to her Smart car).

No response...guess this is just too silly a question to be asking in Tech. or maybe wanting to put cameras on car is just too stupid of an idea, either way the cameras are going on car so would it have helped if I had asked where to pick-up hot lead to add accessories inside car?

There is an accessory terminal in the fuse block. Its hot with key on.

If you can get under the dash and see the fuse block, there may be an empty slot labeled ACC for accessory. Should be a switched ignition circuit.

Perfect, and thanks so much for answering. I do have empty acc slot on fuse panel...I would probably have tied into cigar lighter without being set straight.

That would have been hot all the time and drained the battery.

It is smaller than i was expecting and blends in pretty well so it is not obvious. Good job!

Today added camera to rear...hardest part was running wires, got them up to kick panel so maybe tomorrow I'll be able to finish this up. Still don't know where I'll place monitor.

Right...ON / OFF/ ON Switch, Front camera, off, rear camera. BMW thing came with car, probably get changed to something else down the road. Best thing about this project was that it got me looking around at wiring and discovered a cut off switch had been installed by someone using speaker wire (or something similar) that was accident sure to happen...insulation was being melted away and could have caused fire.

Interesting. Maybe the camera could see if someone was attempting to steal your vehicle.

Not trying to keep post alive but wanted to show what could have burnt my car into puddle of rubber and plastic. This was connected to hot wire to distributor and ran to under driver's seat and back....using speaker wire!
